GOOD FORM WITH KIRSTY COATES

Good Form is a series that explores the daily rhythms, rituals, and routines that bring wellness into our homes. In this edition we’re joined by Kirsty Coates, founder of BEETL, the gentle but gutsy skincare brand from Aotearoa making life easier for families with sensitive skin.

Born from her own childhood experience with eczema and her mother’s herbalist know-how, BEETL began as a balm for her daughters and has grown into a thoughtful, botanically powered range. Made in New Zealand with ingredients like calendula, chamomile, and lavender, BEETL is skincare that works hard without shouting about it: a small but mighty brand with global intentions and roots planted firmly in care.

In this conversation, Kirsty reflects on the balance of corporate life, a growing brand, and motherhood to two young girls. Her version of wellness is simple and steady: plunger coffee with her husband before the day begins, barefoot walks to reset her headspace, barre and Pilates for strength, and bath-time rituals that help everyone wind down. It’s proof that wellness doesn’t have to be elaborate, it just has to be lived.

How do you start each day?

I start with a big glass of water, get breakfast sorted for the kids, and then sit down for a plunger coffee with my husband — it’s our little moment before the chaos begins.

what's something you consume daily that improves your life?

Almighty sparkling water – we’re completely hooked. It’s always in the fridge.

what physical movement do you practice?

I love barre and Pilates. I don’t make it every day like I used to, but I aim for two to three times a week. It’s how I stay strong and mentally clear.

what are your headspace habits?

Walking is my time to reset. I don’t usually listen to anything — I just walk and let my mind breathe.

is there a tool, product, or practice you swear by?

Staying active and eating well are key for me. They help me show up as my best self — at work and at home.

how do you wind down at the end of the day?

Evenings are full-on with pick-ups, dinner, homework, and bath time. We use BEETL as part of our girls’ bedtime routine — a warm bath and gentle massage helps them settle. I try to leave my phone in the bedroom so I can be present and unwind with them properly.

what's one small decision that has changed your life for the better?

Having my family — I’m beyond grateful for my husband and our girls. They’ve changed everything. And while it wasn’t exactly a small decision, I’m also incredibly proud of building BEETL. We’re a small but mighty brand on a mission to help families with sensitive skin, globally. It hasn’t always been smooth sailing, but I’m so proud of how far we’ve come in such a short time.

Right now, I’m juggling a corporate role, a small business, and life with a 10-month-old and a 5-year-old — so life is definitely full, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
