Good Form is a series that explores the daily rhythms, rituals, and routines that bring wellness into our homes. In this edition we’re joined by Alexandra Grima, co-founder of Foile skincare.
Built on the belief that skincare should be simple, sensual, and sustainable, Foile is one of those brands that lives quietly on your shelf yet deeply in your memory. Co-founded by Alexandra in 2020, it’s become known for its bioactive formulas, refillable glass packaging, and sculptural, almost meditative aesthetic. It’s skincare that doesn’t shout, but still shifts something in your skin, and maybe even your mood.
In this conversation, Alexandra shares the practices that keep her grounded: from matcha mornings and forest walks to magnesium, journalling, and the quiet rhythm of breath. Her version of wellness isn’t performative — it’s personal, elemental, and shaped by deep time in nature.

How do you start each day?
After I wake up, I scrape my tongue, make a matcha and go for a short wander on the land.
I live at the top of a valley lucky enough to be surrounded by nature. The owner has been regenerating the forest here and the bird & wildlife is remarkable. This short walk is not about exercise, for me it’s aligning with the rhythm of the day, what the sky is doing, which birds are awake and are they taking shelter if there’s rain, has a spider web formed overnight.
What is something you consume every day that improves your life?
Filtered drinking water.
Eating quality whole foods really makes a difference – we have a lot of farm gate stalls near where we live and really bountiful farmers markets. Eating locally grown food is something I really appreciate and a lovely way to actually buy the food also, connecting more to where it has come from.
My supplements vary based on that chapter of my life, although B12 and magnesium always feature, I have been incorporating red dates a lot more also.

What kind of physical movement do you practice?
Gentle movement is always what has felt best for me and my body. I like long walks, stretching, yoga, some pilates - these latter three are often just at home on our tatami mats. I love movement and variety that offers something additional whether joy or creativity or learning – surfing, gardening, snorkelling, helping my husband with a building project. I don’t measure my fitness levels however I do know when I’m feeling stronger in my body when I find a steep hill!
What are your headspace habits?
I’ve recently been going to a few equine therapy sessions guided by my friend Claire. This has shifted a lot of my thinking and invited me to approach things in a new way.
Long conversations with friends and family have always been enriching for my spirit and helps me understand myself and the world better.
Dipping into the ocean is a constant in my life also.
I’ve journalled since I was a teenager, I always found writing down my thoughts, ideas, ambitions such a soothing process – I’ve recently been reading The Artist’s Way and Julia Cameron really advocates for these ‘morning pages’, I’m more sporadic than this but it is something I would like to work towards.
Infrared saunas – I find I make it there once a week currently, this quiet reflective time in a cedar cocoon is something I truly value and has been a part of my life since a friend took me to one over 8 years ago.
Ritual, reimagined. Foile’s range in full colour and motion — skincare as object, texture, and everyday art.
Not your average bathroom shelf. Foile’s refillable glass vessels, made to be reused, refilled, and admired. Just add magnesium and a dusk ritual.
The day winding down. Skin still wide awake. Two of Foile’s signature glass bottles catching the last of the light — skincare you’ll actually remember to use.
Minimal, sculptural, and slow by design. Foile’s Deep Blue C Cream, where ocean-inspired actives meet matte-white packaging that looks good staying out.
Stillness, skin, and bright intention. Alexandra’s rituals start slow — with quiet forests, warm matcha, and a little under-eye luminosity courtesy of Foile.
Is there a tool, product, or practice you swear by?
Is there a tool, product, or practice you swear by? What is it and what does it do for you?
I’ve recently been diving more into breathwork, a gentle practice I try to incorporate every day. It helps me to feel in my body as a whole and also appreciate the work of the lungs, this extraordinary subconscious practice the body is quietly doing every moment, the air/oxygen is incredibly nourishing. The rhythm of the breath is really what sets the tempo for the task whether it’s walking up a hill, reading, talking, sleeping.
I also use my Foile Skin Sponge Serum every single day. It is the most hydrating and balancing product for me and just feels so reliable for my skin.
How do you like to wind down at the end of the day?
A hot water bottle or wheat bag. I love the warmth! And washing my face.
Dusk is my favourite time of the day, I love the idea of winding down the energy of the day and welcoming the quiet evening.
What’s one small decision you made that’s changed your life for the better?
What’s one small decision you made that’s changed your life for the better?
Allowing myself the grace to trust my intuition, this has been a guiding light for me.
