Breakfast in Parramatta

Written by Emily Heath | 02/05

This week on our city guide series Visible Cities we’ll be visiting five of our favourite breakfast spots in Paramatta. Between old haunts and new kids on the block, for long stays and bites on the go, we’ve got you covered.

Circa Espresso
21 Wentworth St, Parramatta

With its specialty coffee and Middle Eastern-inspired seasonal menu, Circa has been a mainstay of the local gastronomy circuit for over 10 years. With it’s up-cycled décor evoking Melbourne’s famous laneway cafes, Circa is an essential visit for foodies.

Ottoman Eggs
Poached free-range eggs, crumbed eggplant, garlic labne, burnt chilli & sage butter, fried leeks, house-made focaccia (v)

Threefold Pastry
Parramatta Square, 404/12 Darcy St, Parramatta

Bringing next-level indulgence to the city, Threefold offers a creative range of sweet and savoury pastries folded to perfection. Pop in for your morning coffee and try to resist coming away with some of their signature flaky, buttery goodies.

Lil Miss Collins
13 Wentworth St, Parramatta

Since 2016, this well loved country-style garden café has been serving modern Australian cuisine with Middle Eastern and Asian influences. Renowned for for hosting exquisite High Tea events, making it the ideal venue for occasions like baby showers, birthdays, and corporate gatherings, Lil Miss Collins is a local treasure that’s fresh, healthy, flavourful and insta-worthy.

Must try:
Phoenician Kofta. A Middle East-inspired dish made from lamb kofta, labne, cabbage and pomegranate on toasted Lebanese bread.

Kafeneio
7/180 George St, Parramatta

Some people say Kafeneio (Greek for coffee house) is where you’ll find the best coffee in Sydney. Is it true? Best to find out for yourself! And why wouldn’t you when there’s such beautiful vintage inspired décor. Kafeneio serves up coffee from Alexandria specialty roaster Mecca, tea from Lidcombe’s Tea Craft and hot chocolates from Grounded Pleasures.

Must try:
Toastie of the week!

Meraki Merchants
5/111 George St, Parramatta

Meraki take Australian classics and elevate them to the next level. Love Milo? Try it with rosewater. Jaffle fan? How about one with Levantine sausage slices and Danish feta? The menu is small but it’s packed full of Middle Eastern inspired goodness with flavours that you wont soon forget. Do not miss this little gem.

Must try:
The Sultan’s Jaffle: Sliced cheese, sujuk and Kalamata olives sided with smoky capsicum relish.
